NEWS | Zonta Club of Fort Myers Foundation Donates $8,000 to Local Nonprofits Through Competitive Grant Program

The Zonta Club of Fort Myers Foundation is proud to announce the donation of $2,000 each to four deserving local nonprofits: Thrive SWFL, Our Mother’s Home, FGCU GEM, and After the Rain. These donations are part of Zonta’s competitive grant program, aimed at supporting organizations dedicated to empowering women and improving the community.

A Competitive Grant Program to Build a Better World for Women & Girls

The grant program, which invites applications from local nonprofits, saw strong competition this year. The selected organizations were chosen based on their impactful work and alignment with Zonta’s mission of building a better world for women and girls.

Thrive SWFL: This organization works tirelessly to provide pregnant women and single moms with a safe haven leading to life transformation.

Our Mother’s Home:   Transforms the lives of young mothers who have experienced the foster care and human trafficking systems. Through the Mentored Living Program, they provide a nurturing environment where these courageous young women receive the support, guidance, and resources they need to break the cycle of poverty and neglect for themselves and their babies.

FGCU GEM: The Florida Gulf Coast University’s GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science) program is designed to inspire and empower middle school girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. By providing hands-on experiences, mentorship, and exposure to STEM careers, GEMS aims to bridge the gender gap in these critical areas and foster a new generation of female leaders in science and engineering.

After the Rain: Specializing in assisting women in recovery, After the Rain After the Rain is one of the few transitional living houses in the area assisting adult women seeking recovery from homelessness, alcoholism and other mind-altering substances. Their major goal is to provide safe housing for these women as they heal, grow, change from the inside, and glow from the outside.

Funds Raised Through Signature Racing Event

The funds for these grants were largely raised through Zonta’s highly successful Signature Racing Event. This annual event has become a cornerstone of Zonta of Fort Myers Area fundraising efforts, drawing participants and supporters from across the region. The enthusiasm and generosity of the community have been instrumental in making these grants possible.

Looking Ahead: 2025 Grants

Zonta Club of Fort Myers Foundation is looking forward to next year’s grant cycle. The 2025 grants will open for applications in January 2025, with funds set for distribution in June 2025. Local nonprofits are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to gain financial support for their programs that align with Zonta’s mission.
