Who We Are
Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.
In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men.
In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
Founded in 1919, Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. With more than 29,000 members in nearly 1,200 Zonta clubs in 63 countries, Zonta International is divided into 32 Districts of which we are District 11.
Zonta takes its name from the Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy”. Zonta has a long and well respected history of being a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. One of the first service organizations to understand women’s unique role in achieving world peace, Zonta International continues to promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Zonta International and our members work at the international, national and local levels to realize our vision of a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential, where women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men, and where no woman lives in fear of violence.
