What a momentous occasion for the chartering of the Zonta Club of the Villages. The 7 Clubs of Area 4(Bartow, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Ocala, Pinellas, Tallahassee & Tampa) are oh so proud to share this milestone with you. We look forward to doing it again in the very near future in Orlando. Thanks to Betty Geier, Mary Gregory and all the Tampa members for being the SOM.

Thank you Zonta Club of Birmingham for a fabulous Amelia Earhart event last Saturday! We presented Amelia Earhart fellow, Francesca Favaro, with her wings and certificate.

We also had the opportunity to have an exciting presentation from Hurricane Hunter, Major Kaitlyn Woods. Major Kaitlyn Woods is an Aerial Reconnaissance Weather Officer (ARWO) with the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, 403rd Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, Keesler AFB, MS. She is responsible for mission directing weather reconnaissance aircraft into hurricanes and tropical storms to collect information, including storm center and intensity. This information is used by the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla., to more accurately forecast the storms. Major Woods has over 1700 flight hours in the WC-130J and has logged eighty-nine hurricane penetrations.
Major Woods’ husband, Britt, is also a hurricane hunter. He is a pilot. The Woods have 3 beautiful children.
District 11 is truly an international district composed of the Southeast United States, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands. The states included are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
